The Filter Specification page of the Component Properties dialog allows you to include various filter types in your system design. This page is only available when a filter is currently selected. You can choose the simpler model used in earlier version of SysCalc by checking the "Simple Model" button at the bottom of the dialog. This will disable (gray out) the parameters shown below.
Caution: It is recommended that you avoid using both the simple and complex filter models in the same system design.
The parameters discussed below relate to the subsequent graphics. Basic filter knowledge is assumed:
|
Filter Type |
The basic filter family: Bessel, Brickwall, Butterworth, Chebyshev |
|
Displays a graph of the filter using the currently specified parameters. | |
|
Number of Poles |
The number of poles for the selected filter. Brick wall filters are not affected by this parameter. |
|
LPF/HPF/BPF |
The filter style: LPF - Low Pass Filter, HPF - High Pass Filter, BPF - Band Pass Filter |
|
Center Frequency |
The filter center frequency in MHz. |
|
Bandwidth |
The filter bandwidth in MHz. |
|
Cutoff Attn |
The filter attenuation in dB at the band edge(s). This is typically 3 dB for most designs. This parameter is not available for Chebyshev filters since the ripple parameter determines the attenuation at the band edge(s). By default, the attenuation is set to 80 dB for Brickwall filters. |
|
Ripple |
The peak-to-peak filter ripple. This parameter is only available for Chebyshev filters. |
|
Effective Noise BW factor |
The effective noise bandwidth factor. |
|
Effective Noise BW |
The effective noise bandwidth: Bandwidth * Effective_BW_factor discussed previously. |
|
Create |
Creates the filter according to the parameters defined in the dialog. |

Filter Specifications for Chebyshev filters.

If a file is attached to the filter component, the only control that will be enabled is the View Filter button.
