Each SysCalc system page contains a moveable generator and probe icon. By default the generator is placed at the input of the first component and the probe is placed at the output of the last component. To move either the generator or probe, simply place the mouse over the icon, hold down the left mouse button and drag the icon to a new position.
Effects of moving the generator icon
The generator icon defines the input location on the current page. All components to the left of the generator are ignored during subsequent calculations. The Input Power and Input IM fields on the sheet will automatically reflect the levels present at the new input component due to the previous stages. All system calculations are relative to the new input.
Effects of moving the probe icon
The probe icon defines the output location on the current page. All components to the right of the probe are ignored during subsequent calculations. All system output parameters are relative to the new output.
By default, the probe has infinite (actually 1 Tera-Hertz) bandwidth and has no affect on calculations; thus, bandwidth is determined solely by the filters present in the system. This is the preferable mode of analysis. Occasionally, however, interesting "what-if" scenarios can be investigated by moving the probe around. Placement of the infinite-bandwidth probe can cause unanticipated, though, technically correct results (See Bandwidth Considerations). If you need to move the probe and to have a consistent bandwidth while doing so, you can edit the probe settings to create a band-limited probe. All components ahead of the probe will see the bandwidth unless a more band-limiting component exists before the probe. To edit the settings, double-click on the probe or choose, Probe Settings, from the Edit menu. The following dialog will appear.

The current probe settings are displayed in a tooltip when the cursor is placed over the probe.
